Ethiopia's Fano Rebels Call on the International Community to Support them in Stabilizing the African Horn.

The rebels released a statement saying Ethiopia's rapid destruction is already affecting the African east.

AFPO, the largest rebel movement in Ethiopia's Amhara provinces says the ongoing crisis in the horn of Africa region is partly caused by what they call the "terrorist" regime in Ethiopia and the international community should work with them to stabilize it.

Diplomatic and military movements in the horn of Africa turned upside down when Ethiopia's brutal dictator Abiy Ahmed signed a port deal with Somaliland which is still part of Somalia under international laws.

Egypt and several other countries have joined Somalia in calling for the respect of the territorial integrity of Somalia. Egypt even took it further by signing a military pact with Somalia. Ethiopia's federal army has also been deployed to the border.

The Amhara rebels have been fighting Abiy Ahmed's mercenary forces since July 2023 and have made several gains in the battlefield.

They recently captured the Ethiopia-Sudan border town of Metema Yohannis in the west which forced Sudanese authorities to close the border.

In the statement they said they will work with responsible bodies to protect Sudanese refugees according to international norms.

The rebels also said the horn of Africa is a geopolitically key location and the largest country in the region, Ethiopia, is rocked by a terrorist regime that is exporting crisis to region.

They asked the international community to support their mission of saving Ethiopia from destruction which has huge ramifications for the entire region including the red sea and Gulf.

AFPO was formed in May as seven of the nine Fano rebel factions came to together to merge as one-armed movement. The group is chaired by long time human rights activist Eskinder Nega.
